Yoga Improves Sports Performance
If you read the paper, watch Dr. Oz, or the evening news you have probably heard about how beneficial yoga can be for your health. But did you know that yoga can improve your golf or tennis game?
Many golf professionals are incorporating yoga into their fitness plans. Brad Faxon, Jonathan Kaye, Andrew Magee, Gary McCord, JL Lewis, Chip Beck and Juli Inkster are just a few of the golfers who incorporate yoga into their fitness plan.
As Roger Dunn 2001 Southern Californian PGA Teacher of the Year says:
“Your best golf cannot occur when you are facing the physical limitations of a tight body and a mind that’s filled with tension. Yoga for Golfers will help you realize your potential by creating a calm and relaxed body and mind. Perfect for golf.”
In June of 2012 Gloria Moore completed the teacher training certification course for Katherine Roberts’ Yoga for Golfers. This yoga technique has been featured on The Golf Channel, Golf Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, ESPN, and numerous other print media.
As you know yoga can improve flexibility and strength. However, this course is more than just about strength and flexibility. It incorporates concepts to improve centering, relaxation, and focus. Gloria has also been trained in teaching yoga to seniors. She keeps their needs in mind as she puts together her classes.
Gloria has been teaching yoga since 2007. She also teaches during Golfari at Pine Needles. Here are comments from her students.
“I loved every minute of the class. It made all the difference between ending the day sore or ending the day of golf feeling energized.” ~ Anne Jardine ~ Golfari student
“Going to yoga is a highlight of my week. Gloria’s gentle yet challenging class helps with balance, stretching, and builds confidence. It is also a quiet time to reflect about what is truly important in life.” ~ Peggy Crawford ~ Seven Lakes student
“Whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing, you will find her class has all levels to either get started or to continue on for good health.” ~ Ann Marie Venezio ~ Seven Lakes student
