Winter ~ A Time for Introspection As the days grow shorter and colder the natural reaction is to become more introspective. Christmas, New Years, and the other winter holidays can aid us in not getting too bogged down with self-reflection as we think about how we want to bring joy into the lives of others. Introspection can be like the sun providing insight for growth or take us down the deep well of self-absorption and self-pity. Years ago I read a book by Rivka Slatkin with guidelines for meaningful introspection. She suggests asking a few key questions:
- What did I accomplish in 2020?
- Was it satisfying?
- What could I have done differently to make it more satisfying?
- What do I love about my life?
- What would I like to change?
Your answers to these questions will shine the light of awareness on how you would like to see your life grow. Let this vision create your intentions for 2021. May you nurture the seeds of joy every day.
